5 Tips for Relaxed Engagement Photos in MS

Let’s not kid ourselves-getting your MS engagement photos or anniversary (or any pictures with your significant other!) is a huge deal! And it can be over whelming if not done correctly. Here are my 5 tips to have relaxed portraits!

Be prepared for your session! That might seem too easy or maybe it’s not easy enough but it’s the truth! You wouldn’t show up to a business presentation unprepared…and it’s the same way with your photos! I will guide you through everything from what to wear, which locations would fit your desired outcome best, what props to bring, the game plan, everything-I will guide you! But you have to help me along the way by taking my advice and implementing it. I promise I can get you through this (and you’ll have fun!) – it’s all about communication! I was going to throw this one into tip #1, but it’s too important not to be its own tip! I LOVE when clients let me know what outfits they’re wearing (from head to toe!), what props they’re bringing, any special pictures they want, anything! Why? First off, it’s fun for me to help! Second and more importantly, it guarantees we are both on the same page and that we can be prepared for your session in every possible way, and therefore have the relaxed fun you’re looking for while receiving amazing engagement photos!

Ask anything about your engagement photos

Seriously-anything! I’ve had clients ask me stuff about bra/panty lines (yes, I just addressed that on my blog-we get real here!), insecurities, sexy poses, what they should wear, props that will match their wedding theme for save the dates, color choices, and anything else you can think of! And you know what – those sessions? They always turn out the best! There is nothing off limits when it comes to questions concerning your engagement photos and I love to be able to answer any questions or concerns you have!

Remember you love each other

This seems like a dumb thing to put in here, but trust me, it needs to be said! While, at first, it can be a little awkward to be in front of the camera, you have to remember that this is your best friend. The one you’re spending the rest of your life with. Y’all have fun together all the time! Think of taking your photos as trying out a new date night! And while you’re at it, make a REAL date of it! Go out to eat afterwards so you have something to reward yourselves with after all your hard work!

I’ve got you

None of my clients are models, and I PROMISE you can’t mess this up! I will walk you through every pose and direct you into exactly what to do so that you don’t have to guess at anything. And the secret to having relaxed, natural photos that showcase your personalities? As you loosen up because I’m instructing you and you know that I’m making you look good . . . you start to do it on your own! I won’t have to instruct you as much because you will just be having so much fun with your best friend, and that’s where we get those fun, natural candid moments to hang on the walls!
