Wife, dog mom, cancer fighter and abuse survivor - I've seen a lot in my short years and now I'm on a journey to help everyday women feel like beautiful works of art and masterpieces in their bodies and within their life because guess what?? That's what you are!!
Hey y’all! I’m back on the blog to share one of the amazing vendors we have here in Vicksburg – Bridal Studio 61! Bridal Studio 61 is a new bridal shop selling wedding dresses in the heart of Downtown Vicksburg. The store is owned by a mother-daughter duo, Cami and Lacey, who were both born and raised in Vicksburg. I had a chance to sit down and get to know more about them, their business and how they serve Mississippi brides as I chatted with Lacey, who handles all the dress shopping appointments. Let’s dive in!
When I went wedding dress shopping, I hated going where there were 5 other girls trying on their dresses with me. It felt overwhelming and I wanted to provide something more personal and private for my brides. I had worked in a bridal shop but never believed I could have my own. I even got a “big girl job” out of college and I soon realized that I would not be happy without following my dreams, so we made the leap! We chose Vicksburg because we saw a void that needed to be filled since most of our brides had to go to Jackson or Monroe before we opened our doors. We spent June – November of 2019 setting up and decorating Bridal Studio 61 to have an upscale, intimate feel and we started officially taking bridal appointments in early December!
The best part is the people I meet and the interactions I get to have with them. And I love hearing the emotional love stories of all my brides! Every bride is different and it makes my job really fun! My 2:00 walks in and wants a princess ball gown but my 4:00 walks in and wants a simple and elegant look. And of course, I LOVE that moment that they find “the one”. It only happens once and it’s super intimate and important and it’s a huge privilege just to be a part of that.
Once a bride finds us, you can set up an appointment by email, website or call. Most people prefer email because it’s the easiest way to reach me among my busyness with other sessions. When you book we will ask you when your wedding date is, what size you are, what budget you have and how many people are coming with you.
I also usually get brides to send me inspirational pics so I know what they have in mind before they ever walk into the studio. When you come in, we will have mimosas and water for you and your group. I try to already have wedding dresses pulled for you if we’ve talked a lot before hand but no matter what, we still start with you just “shopping” and picking some of the dresses we have on display to try on. When you try on the dress, it’s just you and me in the dressing room so that you can decide what you like and don’t like about it before you go show it off. It’s a private intimate experience that’s all about you!
Once you’ve said yes to the dress (and there are probably some emotional tears shed), we will take your pic (just you, not the dress!) in front of the sign and post it on our social media. Then we order your dress! All wedding dresses are made to order and come in in about 6 months but you still need time for alterations so don’t forget to start shopping 8-9 months out from your wedding date.
Absolutely! I would try to limit it to only 2-3 people, but we will allow up to 6 guests with you. Probably one of the most difficult parts of the job is when brides bring people who don’t have the bride’s best interest at heart – the people who are more “Negative Nancy’s” than confidence boosters! I hate it when I have a bride who LOVES a wedding dress but then others bring her down. This occasion should be all about YOU and what you feel best in. I want to be able to give you the best experience possible and to help me do that, don’t bring everyone you know just because you think they’ll be offended if they’re not invited. It’s about you, not them, so only bring the closest people to you who you KNOW will help you.
We offer 4 lines of wedding dresses. The more “simple bride” is an Emily Hart Bride – each dress is unique and she names them all after places and tries to portray that location and its story. Allure is the “Timeless Bride” with modern touches. Eddy K is pays attention to all the little details. He’s your bling guy! Hayley Paige is for the “sparkle” bride and all the dresses are named after brides she met at trunk shows. She’s one of the main designers you see on “Say Yes to the Dress!”. The sample sizes in store range from 8-32 but anything can be ordered and our brides typically invest $1500-$2500 in their dress. We carry a wide array of veils and jewelry and even have an exclusive line of jewelry – Lovebird Jewelry Collective. We also have bridesmaid dresses for your girls! There’s also a fun “after hours” party for bridesmaid shopping. We play games and give the group a chance to bond before we start trying on the dresses so we can actually see them on the girls and coordinate them to the bride’s dress.
I learned a long time ago to let go of what you think is going to happen and just trust God’s plan. And then the more I trust; the more things just fall into place. He knows what He’s doing – I just have to remember that! As for my family, like any family, mine is crazy, but they’re extremely supportive. I have 2 sisters – one’s super organized and the other is a free spirit and I’m a split down the middle. My dad is a local business owner and I run the business with my mom. My husband is the most supportive person and deals with all of my crazy ideas with lots of grace. We have two fur babies – a dog and a cat who I spend my free time with while I watch Netflix and look up pretty dresses to order. I don’t really think I have any special talents, but I do think I’m a dog whisperer!
