One of the best things about launching my new website during the off season, is being able to go back to the archives and post some of my favorite sessions from 2019. I’m posting this one today mainly because I’m SO ready for spring and all the flower that it brings! Not to mention that Michell is one of my 2020 Senior Reps and I get to work with her again this weekend and I’m PUMPED about it!! Be sure to check out the Behind the Scenes video at the bottom of the blog for all your Mississippi Senior Photographer moments!
Michell is one of my 2020 Senior Spokesmodels and I absolutely LOVE working with her!! She’s super sweet and has gone on to win homecoming queen at Warren Central High School here in Vicksburg, MS. When I am taking applications for my Senior Spokesmodel Team, I ask them to tell me about themselves. I knew Michell was one of the perfect fit when she said, “I’m that one girl who carries cat food so that if I find a stray animal, I’m prepared.” I mean, seriously?? How cute!!
During the summer, my Senior Spokesmodels went through a round of Mini Sessions to get the year kicked off! We did one of her senior sessions in old historic Vicksburg, near the Firehouse Art Gallery. This is one of my FAVORITE places to shoot because it’s so diverse! And for those of you who follow along, you know that I’m all about making the most out of a location!!
It seems weird, sometimes, where I ask my seniors to be while I pose them but I’m always looking for the best light and unique locations! This entire shoot, Michell was rockin’ a white crop top and black jeans for a simplistic but sassy look in her senior photos. It looked SO amazing!! We started our session simply on the sidewalk of Main St. where the contrast of her black and white clothes with the orange and tan old brick walls made for some amazing shots!! We got a late start and we were losing the golden hour. So we had to act fast, and Michell was ready for the challenge! We started with street shots of her leaning and posing against brick. She always NAILS the leaning poses so we were so happy to get those of her first. We didn’t stay there too long though because I wanted to be able to find more Crepe Myrtles!!
I LOVE that we were in the Crepe Myrtle season when I shot this. And so you can pretty much bet, that if we work together and I can find some of these flowers – we are getting at least a few shots!! Okay, well maybe not for the guys . . . but you get the idea!! Behind the Fire House Gallery is an old garden and with white crepe myrtles. This made the PERFECT spot to end our session with a bang!! With her white shirt up against the green and white plants, it was such a chic and sweet look for her photos!! The petals were EVERYWHERE but it was okay because it just added even more to the photos!!
