Wife, dog mom, cancer fighter and abuse survivor - I've seen a lot in my short years and now I'm on a journey to help everyday women feel like beautiful works of art and masterpieces in their bodies and within their life because guess what?? That's what you are!!
This is for all you brides!! While I’ve been making a transition into shooting more bridal boudoir sessions rather than weddings, I still love to help brides-to-be plan their big day! My boudoir studio is in Vicksburg, Mississippi and I’m always up to chat wedding planning! An important part of any wedding day, is getting detail photos. I absolutely LOVE detail photos – and every bride does too! Here are some tips on how to get those Pinterest Worthy Wedding Detail Photos that you SWOON over!
However, in order for me to get those amazing wedding detail photos – I need some help! The time I have available to take these photos is limited by the wedding timeline. So, in order to make sure that I can get all the photos you need, I need to make sure that I have everything you want photographed all at once! If you want the grooms ring included in the detail photos, it’s a lot more stressful if you or your bridesmaids have to go hunt the groom down, borrow the ring and bring it back to me.
So, first and foremost, make sure that everything is all in one place, so I can get those photos!
So what “things” make for the best wedding detail photos? First order of business, if you’re completely out of ideas – I suggest checking out Pinterest! There are a TON of wedding detail pictures for you to get an idea of what you’d like pics of.
But, here’s some of the usual suspects!
Florals make for AMAZING background focus and add beautiful color to all detail shots. So, when you order flowers, a common (and very useful) thing to do is ask your florist for any extras they can provide for detail photos. Usually, they’ll know exactly what you’re talking about!
If you’re anything like me, I know you spent a long time picking out the perfect pair to get married in. So, don’t forget to include them in your detail photos! They’re almost as important as the dress and just as gorgeous!
You know you love your ring. Your husband loves your ring. Everyone loves your ring! Make sure that you include your engagement ring, and BOTH of your wedding bands along with any extra bling you want memories of! Bracelets, earrings, necklaces watches and cufflinks all make the wedding detail pictures ABSOLUTELY awesome!
When you order your invitations, place-cards or other paper decorations, make sure to order some extras that you can use for detail photos. They are always absolutely gorgeous! Having those paper products to photograph will be a key part in remembering your wedding day. Bring the full wedding invite with an addressed envelope (you can use a fake address so that you’re keeping everyone safe), save-the-date cards, menus, name cards, your marriage certificate – literally anything paper related!
Lastly, there are always the little things that every bride wants photographed. Maybe, its a ring-pillow from your grandmother. Or Maybe its a small rock that you picked up from your first date with your soon to be husband. Or it could be the whole “something borrowed, something new . . .” that you’re particularly excited about! Whatever it is, make sure to include it so you can have pictures of that memory to last a lifetime!
What brings all of these things together for amazing Pinterest worthy detail photos? ORGANIZATION!!! Make a list of all the things you want to include BEFORE your wedding day and pack it up the night before. That way when your photographer arrives the day of, you can just hand them everything together and know you’re not going to miss a thing!
